This post is meant to point towards a collection of resources for beginners to intermediates in a data-focused career.

These resources give an intro to the theory and practice of Data Science, Machine Learning, and Software Engineering. All important fields for a data person.

That said, the best method to learn is to build something. Pick a problem, try to solve it, and with every hurdle ask a question, research, read a book - or a chapter, watch a video, follow a tutorial, and you your skills will naturally grow as your project progresses. Also, if you can, work with people who are far better than you, observing great engineers/scientists at work is priceless.
